Description:  This workshop will explore the realities of poverty in our communities and how it affects our families.  We will also take a close look at the work of Ruby Payne and Eric Jensen to show how their research can help teachers and administrators better connect with and reach their low-income students.  Most importantly, we hope to understand how reaching our low-income students helps not only our schools, but our communities as a whole.  Mr. Cass was a free lunch kid that experienced upward mobility and he hopes to show you how to help your students do the same.  This workshop will be informative and interactive.  Participants should leave ready to serve their students with new ideas and mindsets.
