On September 8th we will dive into what inclusion is and what it is not! Highly interactive learning activities and conversations will support participants in understanding the what and why of inclusive practices along with the mental models necessary to implement and sustain research-based instructional practices. We will focus on the how of inclusive practices by exploring eight specific ways to adapt instruction to support students with the general education classroon. Participants will practice the strategies and walk out with practical tips that are doable the next day in class!

On September 29 we will cover planning lessons that support all kids. This session jumps into planning and observing lessons intentionally developed to support multi-tiers of learning needs. The BASE planning model will be used along with strategies from the previous session to design lessons. Participants will work collaboratively to develop lessons for their individual classrooms and students.

HB0355 Amends the School Code. With regard to Professional Educator License renewal, provides that, beginning with the next five-year renewal cycle, after the effective date of the amendatory Act, no less than 15 of the required 120 hours of professional development must include training on inclusive practices in the classroom that examines instructional and behavioral strategies that improve academic and social-emotional outcomes for all students, with our without disabilites, in a general education setting.
