About the TEAACH Act
The Teaching Equitable Asian American History Act or TEAACH Act (HB 376), requires that a unit of Asian American history be taught in K-12 public schools in Illinois. The TEAACH Act was signed into law in July 2021, making Illinois the first state in the country to pass a law of its kind. The mandate will go into effect in the 2022-2023 school year.
