Description: |
Participants will experience two distrinct but interrelated sessions in this workshop. Session 1 (1.5 hours): First, attendees will actively work through how the formative assessment process fits into the larger scheme of what effective schools do. Namely, effective schools have a well thought out and standard-driven guaranteed and viable curriculum, aligned common formative assessments, effective PLC culture and processes, and a robust response to intervention program. Each part is a gear in a well-oiled machine that works cohesively to move students forward in their academic growth and achievement. By the end of this session, participants will fully understand the best practices all schools and classrooms should engage with for improved targeted student growth. Session 2 (4.5 hours): In the second session, participants will “zoom in” on the formative assessment process and create 2 formative assessments for their current classroom; one student-friendly anchoring rubric and one aligned set of tasks that help students demonstrate their learning. Attendees will leave with a step-by-step process for creating and using a daily student-led formative assessment process in their classrooms and 2 examples for immediate use |
